We also started a preschool class on this day. After class, one of the students was having fun with balloons.

Nepal Workshops - 2

following are just of few of the 45 photos we have from this Workshop - an American couple were conducting a 15-day Workshop affiliated with Randy Clark Ministries in the U.S. They were gracious to allow us this day to introduce art and creativity to many of these ministry leaders in Kathmandu and Nepal. Nepal Workshops

After many cancellations and re-schedules, this trip to Nepal finally came off from February 25-March 4. Below will begin a series of posts showing some of the activities and events of the 5 Workshops and 1 mural we painted... (as time, and - our internet connection - allows, more will be posted).

The Day of Small Things

We're back! After several months in the U.S. we returned to New Delhi January 7. We had a wonderful time seeing friends and family and getting to celebrate the holidays at "home" for the first time in three years. Thanks to all of you who made our time "home" so comfortable, enjoyable, and such a time of healing from the stresses of cross-cultural living!

Here are some pictures from our first creative/art activity in India after such a long pause:

Reflecting on a couple wisdom texts:
  "Don't despise the day of small things." and
  "When we are faithful in small things, bigger things come to us."
we warmed up to painting by discussing the importance of "small things" then experimented on small scrap pieces of canvas preparing for a finished painting on a stretched 3"x3" canvas. Here's the process and some results:

A Couple Encouraging Notes:

• The artist we trained and taught with from 2008 through spring 2010, who returned to his homeland due to family matters, just contacted us to thank us for equipping him to teach. He's now teaching on his own in a school setting in Nagaland.
• One of the artists we began working with during summer of 2010, and who started out as a self-proclaimed, militant, feminist, atheist, has begun attending church and asking some very insightful and probing questions about God and eternal matters! She says she is so joyful and has a difficult time explaining it. She also thanked us for not turning our back on her. We so look forward to continue speaking into her life.

Mussoorie - Kids' Art Workshop

Just before our August intern returned to the US, we traveled to Mussoorie where we re-connected with old friends, met new friends, and conducted an Art Workshop for the kids in the neighborhood where we stay. The fourth picture is my new favorite photo of all our art-related activities - those two youngsters were so delighted at this opportunity to make art - probably their first such opportunity! They certainly made the most of it, and in a delightfully charming way.
